Arlene graduated from the University of the West Indies in 2011 where she obtained her Bachelors of Law Degree (LL.B) (Hons.). She then attended the Hugh Wooding Law School where she obtained her Legal Education Certificate (L.E.C.) and was admitted to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in Trinidad and Tobago in 2013.
With a strong interest in corporate/commercial work, Arlene pursued her Masters of Law (LL.M) in Corporate and Commercial Law at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, which she obtained in 2018.
Arlene has acted as Advocate and Instructing Attorney-at-Law in various areas of a civil practice including Company, Property disputes, Contract claims, Industrial, Matrimonial and Family, Probate/ Letters of Administration and Wills.
Arlene is well trained and skilled in legal research, negotiations, drafting of legal opinions, Pre-Action Protocols, Court pleadings, witness statements and legislative review.
Arlene was an Associate for several years in a well regarded law firm concentrating on civil litigation and non-contentious work before joining the Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago as a Legal Officer where she assisted with and advised upon the enforcement of anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing legislation in Trinidad and Tobago.
